Food & Wine Conference #FWConf13 ~ Nik Snacks

Bite it and write it. That's what I do. Fueled by butterbeans & collard greens.

The first ever Food & Wine Conference sponsored by Sunday Supper, July 19-21 is happening right now and I am HERE having a blast! The Food & Wine Conference is the brainchild of Sunday Supper founder, Isabel Laessig. She began the Sunday Supper movement just a few years ago as a way to get families back together and nurturing them around the family table. And now look.

The Rosen Shingle Creek is one of the most impressive and beautiful resorts I've ever had the pleasure of staying. To walk from one end to another, it takes no less than 30 minutes. It looks like Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas inside. The red carpet (well, here it's blue) was rolled out and we have received such great service. I cannot wait for the next two days. So far...

...I met Sara Moulton in the lobby and we had a quick chat and that was just the beginning of the fun.

...We got swag bags chock-full of goodies and this little guy right here, Spuddy Buddy.

He was brought to us by one of the conference sponsors, Idaho Potatoes. Cute, aint he?

After meeting him, it was time for the opening reception. If you know anything about me, it's hard for me to eat, tweet & take photos (okay, that's a not true)...

We were treated to a plethora of piping hot dishes from each of the property's five restaurants. Below are a few of my favorites. Well, below are a few of the first things I had.

And then I had 2 more.
And then I ate this:

We were also treated to an amazing, informative chocolate demonstration by Shingle Creek's Executive Pastry Chef, David Ramirez. I was too busy chowing down to take pictures, but I'm sure you can see some here.
